before the internet could provide me with everything i needed, i used to listen to songs over and over to transcribe the lyrics into my journal.

confused, angry, depressed, sad.
desperately in love, ridiculously happy, enjoying everything.
mind racing, and filled with a hurricane of emotion.
alone, surrounded by people.

leave you there by yourself, chained to fate.

none of it mattered when i got lost in a song. hearing meaning in lyrics that was entirely my own. the amazing release that came when i didn’t feel completely alone. seeing myself in someone else’s thoughts. identifying. latching on. channeling the hurricane for a few manageable minutes.

fear is not the end of this.
